چکیده

Slow neutron capture reactions in massive stars are substantially contributing to the abundances of the elements between Fe and Zr, producing the so-called weak s component. The weak s process is characterized by a low neutron exposure, where the reaction flow does not reach equilibrium conditions. As a consequence, uncertainties in the stellar (n,γ) rates give rise to large propagation effects. This is illustrated by the impact of recently improved experimental cross sections. Massive stars are also the main production site of the unstable isotope 60Fe, which provides an important chronometer for the early solar system. The successful measurement of the stellar (n,γ) cross section of 60Fe represents an important step towards a quantitative determination of the s-process origin of 60Fe in massive stars.

Spin and Isospin Asymmetry, Equation of State and Neutron Stars

In the present work, we have obtained the equation of state for neutron star matter considering the in uence of the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spin state. We have also investigated the structure of neutron stars. According to our results, the spin asymmetry stiens the equation of state and leads to high mass for the neutron star.

Dependence of S-process Nucleosynthesis in Massive Stars on Triple-alpha and C(α, Γ)o Reaction Rate Uncertainties

We have studied the sensitivity of s-process nucleosynthesis in massive stars to ±2σ variations in the rates of the triple-α and C(α, γ)O reactions. We simulated the evolution of massive stars from H-burning through Fe-core collapse, followed by a supernova explosion. We found that: the production factors of s-process nuclides between Fe and Zr change strongly with changes in the He burning rea...

Different‎ Magnetic Field ‎Distributions‎ in Deformed Neutron Stars‎

‎In this work, we review the formalism which would allow us to model magnetically deformed neutron stars. We study the effect of different magnetic field configurations on the equation of state (EoS) and ‎the ‎structure of such stars. ‎For this aim‎, the EoS of magnetars is acquired by using the lowest order constraint variational (LOCV) method ‎‎and ‎employing‎ the AV18 potential‎.‎...

The Highly Unusual Chemical Composition of the Hercules Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy

We report on the abundance analysis of two red giants in the faint Hercules dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxy. These stars show a remarkable deficiency in the neutron-capture elements, while the hydrostatic α-elements (O, Mg) are strongly enhanced. Our data indicate [Ba/Fe] and [Mg/Fe] abundance ratios of .−2 dex and ∼+0.8 dex, respectively, with essentially no detection of other n-capture element...

Forty Years of X-Ray Binaries

In 2012 it was forty years ago that the discovery of the first X-ray binary Centaurus X-3 became known. That same year it was discovered that apart from the High-Mass X-ray Binaries (HMXBs) there are also Low-Mass X-ray Binaries (LMXBs), and that Cygnus X-1 is most probably a black hole. By 1975 also the new class of Be/X-ray binaries was discovered. After this it took 28 years before ESAs INTE...
